I’m new here, and want to share with you the story of “Sam” our beautiful Golden Retriever, and Jessie a neighborhood dog whom were poisoned by antifreeze intentionally.
Its been since April 1st, but every time I think of Sam, I cry, I miss him so much. Sam was not a dog, I swear he was like a boy trapped in a dogs body. He was a beautiful golden soul. My heart breaks for my little girl “Haley” who loved Sam so much. I will never forget watching my little girl laying on the cold veterinarians floor, clinging to Sam, crying into his fur, and telling how much she loved him, and how there would be so many balls in heaven…hundreds of them. Sam was like a brother to her they were inseperable. Sam loved balls to the point of obsession. I miss that so much. When we found Jessie poisoned also, I thought it was to much for a little girl to take. I could barely hold it together for her sake. Haley and Sam were two peas in a pod. I remember when she was seven and we went to get Sam. Looking in the backseat..he was gazing up at her with adoring eyes. He was 8 weeks old. They were inseperable from that point on. He slept with her. They attended many dog shows…best friends. I thought that we would have Sam though my daughters teen years, and maybe beyond. Sam would have been 4 had he lived this past Nov. 20th. I suppose in retrospect that we humanized him too much. My husband even called him his “son buddy” . Sam was pure joy and sunshine.
Jessie was claimed by a nearby log home company, but when the workers went home. He would come to our house. He quickly adopted Haley as his friend. He would follow her around the neighborhood, since he was a free roaming dog. He seemed to take on the job as her protector. Waiting for her outside freinds homes. She loved him.
My daughter has taken her grief and turned it into a crusade to save other animals from poisoning antifreezehttp://www.zootoo.com/petnews/girlseekschangeinantifreezeleg poisoning Please read her news interview and
